Watching films in the time of confinement

As we retreat to our homes to mitigate the spread of the Covid-19 virus, we are consuming visual content more than ever. To ensure we don’t all overload the telecommunication networks, Facebook, Youtube, and Netflix have stared to reduce the streaming quality. Makes us all regret Blu-Rays.

There is currently a film that is extremely popular on Netflix. Contagion is a 2011 film directed by Steven Soderbergh. I diddn’t see it then but I might see it now. It seems quite à propos but also, is this a film we really want to watch right now? A film about a pandemic isn’t exactly going to comfort us, or is it?

May I suggest some films that I would watch again in this time of confinement:

Coco

Ferdinand

Moulin Rouge

Slumdog Millionnaire

Brazil

E.T.

Modern Times

You can’t take it with you

Unforgiven

Les 400 coups

Rope

The diving bell and the butterfly

The Lunch box

On her majesty’s secret service

The Square

Amores Perros

Shall we dance (The original Japanese film)

Paths of Glory

Priscilla Queen of the desert

The Crying Game

Twelve Angry Men
